Photovoltaics is a virtually emission-free source of electricity that significantly reduces the use of fossil fuels worldwide and efficiently protects the environment. The use of a 1 MW photovoltaic power plant reduces CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by about 1,300 tonnes per year, improving the quality of the air we breathe.

Global trends in RES development are also confirmed on the Polish market. The dynamic growth of the market mainly results from EU conditions and directives concerning the use of energy from renewable sources and setting national targets to enable the EU to achieve at least 30% share of energy from RES by 2030.

Investments in photovoltaics are becoming increasingly profitable, mainly due to falling technology costs. According to experts, photovoltaics – due to its dynamic development and favourable legal conditions – may become the cheapest source of energy in many regions of the world as early as 2025.

Global consultancies predict that photovoltaics could supply up to 20% of Europe's electricity needs by 2030 and 30% by 2050. The impact of photovoltaics on the energy market can be compared to the impact that shale gas previously had on that market.

Investments in renewable energy sources in Poland are additionally supported by the system of RES auctions organised by the Energy Regulatory Office, which guarantee the collection of energy from RES sources for 15 years at a predetermined price.
